You know, Mondays might not be so bad if it was a day that everyone ate cake. Instead of the old ‘TGIF’ folks might get to the office at the start of the work day on Monday and high five over a hearty “TGICD!” It wouldn’t matter when or where but you would need to get your daily dose of cake somewhere in there.  Here are a few (okay more than a few – we got carried away) wedding cakes that we swooned and gushed over. How do these amazing bakers do it?

Look closely – those are gilded girl scout cookies – Yes – that just happened.

Warning: An internet search of cakes will leave you craving cake – no matter how full you already are. Do not attempt this search unless you have a nearby bakery to appease the instant cravings you will ultimately have.  You have been warned!

How often the ‘I’ of Roy G. Biv goes ignored.  Today we choose to give him his day in the sun! Indigo is not only a beautiful color but has been grown as a crop in the Southeastern United States since colonial times.

We think blueberries are more indigo than actually blue and we think they look great simply placed atop this classic white cake.  The blueberry mojito not only keeps the color scheme going but sounds absolutely delicious! The indigo escort cards mixed with other shades of blue is fun and aesthetically pleasing.  This Jenny Yoo bridesmaids dress is stunning and would look so sharp next to this navy suit and the orange tie adds such a great pop of color!

Indigo invitations looks stunning with addresses written in white ink calligraphy. Indigo accents and floral designs on these imitation Ming plates and bud vases would look fabulous when placed on tables and mixed with these navy bud vases as well. A bride and her maids would look stunning with  these Max and Chloe earrings and guests can keep cool with these indigo fans that could even be personalized.

So often details for the men in the wedding party are overlooked. But a boutonniere will be in every picture the groom is in so why not make it just as personal and unique as the brides bouquet? After looking around these are some of our favorite non-traditional takes on boutonnieres:

First of all don’t think you are stuck with flowers.  Boutonnieres can be made from colorful felt, feathers, fabric pinwheels, yarn, buttons or a combination of many materials for a mixed media look!

Get creative with totally fresh ideas. The film flower is perfect for a photographer and the guitar would be great for the music lover and party horns (what!?! – we love this) would be pure perfection for a New Years Eve wedding! Other cool ideas were wheat, pinwheels, cotton, shells and one that even looks like an award ribbon (appropriate for most grooms we think!)
