Wish lanterns have traditionally been used in Asia for celebrations and festivals but have made their way into American celebrations as well. The lanterns are made of paper and are 99% biodegradable.  When they are lit the hot air fills the lantern and works as a mini hot air balloon and sails into the air for 12 twelve minutes and goes about a mile high.

Safe and easy to use the lanterns, sometimes called sky lanterns, or Chinese lanterns, can be inscribed by guests with wishes for the new couple and released as a beautiful send off as the couple departs their wedding.  Lanterns are surprisingly affordable.
